Regular Everywhere: February 2026 In Review

February surprised me both as an early start to my travel-for-concerts season, after staying so close to home in January, as well as an unexpected dip back into some incredibly meaningful nostalgia.

Let's revisit a February that touched on a wide range of my influences and gave me an opportunity to share some rich musical history with my wife and daughter:

Say She She w/ Katzú Oso
@ 3rd & Lindsley - Nashville, TN - February 13, 2026

Say She She were stunning, as usual. They are easily one of the tightest and most exciting artists playing today. I brought a friend who had never heard of them and was completely blown away from the very start of the set. I had to skip their show in St. Louis the night before, but am sincerely hoping to catch them again in '26. Katzú Oso was an interesting opener who fell victim to a rather poor house mix. The venue is known for producing artist showcases, and there was a sort of bottomless, vocals-only sound to their set, which is unfortunate given their lack of stage volume. Happy to give them another chance!

Historic RCA Studio B
@ Country Music Hall of Fame - Nashville, TN - February 14, 2026

Having been lucky enough to have been mentored by the great Bill Porter, you would think I would have already made the pilgrimage to Studio B. To be honest, I had no idea you could tour the facility.

I am unsure that I possess the words to adequately describe what it was like to be in the room where such records had been brought to life, especially knowing so many of Bill's stories. It was a special feeling to stand on the infamous X, where so many singers performed world famous takes. Gosh, I was delighted when the tour guide turned out the lights and played "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" over the studio PA. I could picture it happening and I smiled as I remembered Bill's stories about having to splice multiple takes with different reverb times, while having the stomach flu.

What an incredible experience. If you go to the Country Music Hall of Fame, I implore you to make time for the Studio B experience. You won't regret it!

Nine Inch Nails w/ Boyz Noize
@ Enterprise Center - St. Louis, MO - February 25, 2026

Dear lord. What can I say about my fourth decade of seeing Nine Inch Nails live? Just unbelievable.

I have such wide-ranging musical tastes. Daydreaming about Roy Orbison records one week and going full-throttle with NIN the next. But, underneath it all is a great appreciation for soulful, well-crafted songs and over-the-top showmanship transcends genre.

Trent and co. were as good as they've ever been. An interesting return to an arena-level attack. My last NIN experience was in 2022 and was the most relaxed I had ever seen them—more of a band playing a show than musicians executing a production. The Peel It Back tour bridged the best of both worlds, a seeming return to what made it fun to be in a band, while performing at the top of their game.

Trent alluded that at 60+, he might not be hitting the stage much farther into the future. But his Coachella headlining performance might indicate otherwise. Either way, this was a heroic performance and a truly innovative production.

EPIC: Elvis Presley In Concert
@ Alamo Drafthouse - St. Louis, MO - February 27, 2026

Having not expected to visit Studio B, I couldn't have really planned for February to be so Elvis-themed. That said, this movie was so fun and special. It confirmed so many of Bill's stories and showed a human side of Elvis that I had never seen. His band absolutely ripped and it looked like they really enjoyed playing together. What a lovely tribute.
